Morphe eyeshadow cut creases, blinding Champagne Pop highlighter, Dip Brow pomade, and green contact lenses.
Don’t get me wrong, I still think the makeup style is cute. I think those products are still really good.
But for the longest time I couldn’t put my finger on why my makeup looked off. It helped me look older, maybe like an ABG- but it didn’t feel like “me”. I felt out of place in my own skin.

For an effortless “no makeup” makeup look
Tip: be stingy when applying concealer- no more, and no less. Apply tiny dots to the t-zone, let it dry a bit so it can settle, and blend with a sponge.
- Nars Creamy Concealer is my go to medium-coverage concealer that blends seamlessly into the skin. I use the shade Vanilla, and Chantilly to brighten my undereyes.
- If you want a natural, yet full faced coverage:
- Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation gives a soft glow and looks beautiful in professional photos (this was the one I used for my uni graduation!)
- Clio Kill Cover Cushion Foundation I wish I had known about cushion foundations sooner! They make your skin look like a real life IG filter and have SPF.
- Canmake Marshmallow Finishing Powder makes the most beautiful soft filtered glow, blurs the skin without any caking. AND it contains SPF! They are available Tokyo Beauty or on Yesstyle, and you can use my code kaigaston10.
- Triangle Powder Puffs I thought it was a bit silly to buy these since most powder compacts come with their own version. But now I can’t live without them! It makes your makeup look matte without being dry, which is a lifesaver for oily girlies or those with dry patches. You can buy these in a set from Amazon.
For the prettiest rosy cheeks 🍓
- Tip: Apply your blush as close to the cheekbone as possible so that when you smile your face won’t drag down.

- Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks in 07. There’s a touch of orange which makes it vibrant.
- Dior Rosy Glow Blush in 001 Pink.
For a softly sculpted face 🧸 Too Cool for School Contour Palette is an absolute essential since it’s natural, affordable, and easy to achieve a perfect custom shade mix. To top it off, I like dusting the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in 001 Universal on the high points of my face. It gives a pearly glow that makes you look like you’ve been kissed by the moonlight.
For a sunkissed, bronzy glow 🌞 Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. It gives the most natural looking tan with just a touch of shimmer. I’ve hit pan on three of these and always get compliments wearing this as an eyeshadow as well.
For the cutest button nose 👼🏻 Colourpop Super Shock Highlighter in Lunch Money is my favourite $10 highlighter! It’s perfect for the ingenue essence because the shade is champagne and gives a soft glow rather than a blinding white light. The texture is also a satisfying cream to powder, and is easy to apply with your fingertips.
For the sweetest doe eyes 🎀
- Tip: pinch lashes together after applying mascara for more volume
- Aegyo sal: Draw a thin line with a pointy brush and any light brown eyeshadow (or contour). Then buff it out with a fluffy blending brush. I haven’t yet found an aegyo sal stick I like since they’re not super easy to find in Vancouver, but the Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Frosting and Milk from any drugstore works really well.
- For light brown contact lenses, I’m a huge fan of Moodylenses Amber Tears! ( code kkai15 saves you 15% off). I also love the Hapa Kristin One&Only, which are more of a medium brown if you prefer to make it more subtle.
Since ingenue eyes tend to be big and round, you can experiment with super dense lash styles without getting that “heavy” or sleepy look! I usually ask for light volume cat eye wispies lash extentions. My friend Elsie recommends these $15 Newcally Wispy Lashes, which I thought looked absolutely stunning on her for our sushi date.
For the prettiest pout 💋
- Tip: For a low maintenance lip look, overline and smudge just your cupid’s bow and the bottom of your lips.
- Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk is the perfect matte nude pink that has the “your lips, but better” charm to it. Their lipliner is worth getting as well for the perfect colour match, it’s creamy, pigmented and longlasting.
- Of course, I cannot end any makeup recommendation without mentioning my favourite $12 lip combo. If Lana Del Ray’s “Cherry” was a lip combo, it would be the Nyx Pencil Liner in Ever and the Burts Bees Lip Balm in Pomegranate.
